What a treat to spend a few hours on the porch of Hillbilly’s in the sun yesterday staring at arguably, the second prettiest tree in the city. As expected, the Bloody Mary Lou is wonderful and comes with its own fried oyster crucified onto a large tree of celery.

Are you a first-time home-buyer committed to living in the urban core of OKC? Well you’re not getting that house. For as long as I’ve been looking, the real estate market in the parts of OKC that you want to live in is booming. My agent, Anya “Highest and Best Offer” Mashaney is a badass, but that still isn’t helping.

Okay. So it’s February. How the hell did that happen? We didn’t write stories, but hey, you didn’t work out. Here were are, a month into the new year, and OKC isn’t stopping to wait on us.

We’re not the biggest fans of an outrageously pink and red, over-marketed, forced show of affection, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day with some amazing food. If you’ve yet to figure out how you’re eating for the “holiday,” here are some ideas for you.

Every new year means making promises to yourself that you won’t keep because you’ll be able to do it all again next year. Unless you’re a felon trying to make a new start. Ask any one of the nine ladies who graduated from the TEEM OKC Culinary Arts Program last week and you’ll find that New Year’s resolutions hold a much greater weight. For them, a new start isn’t cheap; it’s a second chance to become the person you want to be.
